La Grande Épicerie Massen has its roots in the early 1970s, when the Massen family opened their small gas station and convenience store. What began as a modest shop soon evolved, driven by a passion for authentic food, local partnerships, and exceptional customer service.

By the 1980s, the store had already become a full-fledged supermarket, distinguished by its commitment to regional products and artisanal quality. During this pivotal period, Arsène Laplume brought visionary leadership that shaped the supermarket's development and laid the foundation for its subsequent growth. Fresh produce counters, a respected butcher shop, and a traditional bakery became defining features that still distinguish Massen from other supermarkets in the Greater Region of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
In 2016, the name La Grande Épicerie Massen was officially launched, marking a new chapter of growth and modernization. The supermarket remained true to its mission: to focus on regional products and artisanal quality, with the goal of offering customers the finest food and beverages in a personal and welcoming atmosphere.
