Bretzelsonndeg – a delicious Luxembourg tradition

On March 15, 2026, Luxembourg celebrates Bretzelsonndeg – a tradition in which men offer their loved one a sweet pretzel as a sign of affection. If she appreciates the gesture, she thanks him at Easter with a (chocolate) egg.

For generations, this special custom has been part of Luxembourg’s culture and celebrates enjoyment, love and thoughtful gestures.
